When I’m thinking creatively of a new furniture design, I look for something that brings to mind a place or a period or a glance into nature, whether real or imaginary.
I want to make furniture that gives a clear sense of comfort: Comfort in its functional purpose; comfort in it’s craftsmanship; comfort in its time and space; and comfort to behold.
I think a piece of furniture only becomes a work of art when the design and the craftsmanship inspire each other and meld into a single accomplishment.
When steel is carefully crafted and finished with a hand-rubbed patina, it's a versatile and very beautiful material. This hand worked element is what satisfies me in a completed piece. |
